Prospero Teaching are working with a specialist school which caters to students who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Some may also have associated learning difficulties which have impacted on their ability to access the curriculum in mainstream schools. The school is located in Tower Hamlets area and will be looking for Teaching Assistants to asap on a full time basis. All pupils currently have a Statement of Special Educational Needs or an Education Care Plan.
We are recruiting for strong individuals who come from a variety of backgrounds where you may have worked in close proximity with young adults and children who have challenging behaviour. We are interested in individuals who are passionate about supporting students with these kind of needs and who are able to develop good rapport with students.
Previous experience of working with children who have a specialist statement would be ideal however this is not essential. The school are particularly keen to provide teaching assistants with progression and ownership in particular areas of intervention including Dyslexia, Speech and Language and Occupational Therapy to name a few.
The school have also just recently promoted some of their current employees who have been working as learning support to unqualified teachers offering them the experience and practice of leading classes which is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who have a keen interest in completing teachers training in future.
Ideal candidates for this role will:
• Have previous experience working with children or want to pursue a career specialising in behaviour • Be eligible to work within the UK • Be a driven, dedicated and hard-working individual • Be able to build good rapport with students • Hold a current DBS or be willing to process one • Provide two current work based, child related references.

• Good curriculum understanding
The school has a very positive and encouraging ethos where the students have individual reward systems in place to inspire progression. Staff at this school are valued highly which is demonstrated by the close knit team spirit and amount of support on hand from SLT members. They are currently going through a period of expansion which has led to improvements to facilities and developments being made across the school which included the recent introduction of music and drama therapy for the students.
